I finally picked up my camera from my old house the other day, and was surprised to find these photos on it. They are some rather poor quality pictures of some frankly amazing drawings by my friend Paul Hill… my photos absolutely don’t do his skill justice. I hope to be able to get some better scans to show the huge amount of detail in the pencil work at some point.
I love the way Paul’s style over-accentuates everything, giving me much fuller curves and long, bony fingers and toes. They were all drawn from life in roughly 2-3 hours, with no photographic reference material used… I think Paul has several more of me, he was kind enough to give me giclee prints of these six.
The cat you can see standing at my feet in one of the pictures is called Pebbles… Shortly after this drawing was done, she had a bit of a run in with a bicycle and had to have her tail, which you can just see curling round behind my legs, amputated. I really do have the worst record for amputee cats!
