Shibari Sessions
I offer private tying sessions for those who want to experience being tied by me. Sessions can be arranged in Berlin, or in any of the places I travel to teach in.
Why do people want to experience shibari?
Shibari has its roots in BDSM, and for many people that's the appeal: play, sensation, an exploration of the edges of their experience within a safe and considered space. But that’s far from the only reason people are drawn to rope.
People often come to me for their first experience of being tied - shibari asks for real physical and emotional trust, and it isn’t easy for a person who is new to the rope to assess the skills of a stranger - coming to someone who is experienced and established can help beginners to navigate the process.
Students who are learning to tie often find it invaluable to feel rope from the inside, to understand what they're asking of the people they tie. Some people come simply to experience something slow and intentional - to be present in their body in a way that ordinary life rarely allows.
What these share is the quality of focus the rope makes possible. My shibari sessions are, before anything else, an experience of sustained attention - being held, watched over, and responded to - slowly and with care. Sessions are shaped around you: your body, your experience, and what you want from the time.
My Rope Experience
I have almost two decades of experience as someone who both ties and has been tied extensively. Having spent so long on both sides of the rope, I have a real empathy for the person in front of me, and the breadth of experience to adapt my rope to many different physical needs. It has given me the time to deeply develop body awareness, the ability to read the people I tie, and the capacity to hold space for whatever a session brings up.*
My interests include one-rope movement play, creating slow, simple flows that move between suspension, partial suspension and floor, alongside more intensely static, restrictive ties and dynamic suspension transitions.
Booking
Sessions are priced on a sliding scale of 250€-350€, and take place at my studio, Daruma (in Neukölln, Berlin) unless arranged otherwise.
To arrange one, get in touch and tell me a little about yourself and what you're hoping for from the session. I'll send more information, and usually follow up with a few questions before we meet, to be sure my approach suits what you're looking for.
Please be aware that my email account is managed by my assistant, who handles all practical details such as scheduling for me. Your messages will always be treated confidentially, however if there are certain things of a personal nature that you wish to write only to me, please let us know and my direct contact will be provided.
* For certain people, shibari has the potential to provide calming effects, reduce anxiety, relieve stress, and help address a range of personal issues. While I'm more than happy if my sessions help facilitate your own process in some way, it's important to note that I am not a therapist, and I would strongly caution against anyone claiming to offer shibari sessions as a "healing" or "therapeutic" tool. I can provide a nurturing space for aftercare (usually in the form of tea and conversation) but I am not qualified to offer anything beyond this point.
